(PPA) The Poker Players Alliance is an association whose purpose is to promote and protect the poker game and to defend its integrity. It endorses the rights of online poker players and its enthusiasts, promoting a safe and hacker safe room to play online poker.

After the US House of Representatives voted the banning of internet poker, number of members of the PPA increased four-fold, having already surpassed 75,000 and growing fast.

According to Michael Bolcerek, the President of the PPA, the enormous growth of the number of members is a response to the ban, the poker players defending their sport: "70 million citizens in the United States take pleasure in playing online or offline poker".

Estimates from an study from July 2006 show that the federal revenue would be increased by $3.3 billion, while the revenue of the states would be increased by a further $1 billion if online poker would become legal, taxed and regulated in the United States of America, following the example of the U.K. (United Kingdom).
